The rule behind the numbers
Federal law pays 1.5 times your $25 rate, $37.50, for every hour past 40 in a workweek. Hours over 8 in a day earn nothing extra unless you're in California, Alaska, Nevada or Colorado, which the calculator above handles when you pick the state. The tax side
